We continue to uphold dimensional accuracy even when machining the most demanding multi surface 3D part files to exact specifications. Thinking of going to China?

Think again! Due to the offset in labor cost between China and the US, there are some plastic injection molds which make perfect sense to be manufactured in China, though not all are suitable.  We have dealt with many US companies large and small, who have sometimes been lured by the initial low cost route of China.  What is not apparent up front, are some of the potential hidden costs not included in the RFQ.

  • Sub optimal tooling material resulting in poor long term performance
  • China’s interpretation of a hard tool can sometimes mean either a nitride or case hardened surface finish, or mold steels being less than 50Rc.
  • Part Flashing due to poor component tolerancing
  • Lack of necessary heating or cooling circuits, resulting in inconsistent part geometry and longer cycle times
  • lack of accurate tooling prints required for later repairs or modifications
  • Language and time zone differences
  • Freight time and delivery cost.  Shipping your mold back to China for repairs is usually not an option

If some of the above design criteria are not carefully considered and implemented, additional cost can be incurred.  Keeping your product here also ensures complete confidentiality concerning your US Patents, they are vulnerable in China. Based on current trends in orders for tooling, we are getting more and more orders to rebuild tooling that has been delivered to the US from China. This adds cost and takes valuable time to bring your product to market.  Having your product close by and easily accessible is a major advantage that puts you in control.
